About Us

About Ubuntu Capital

A London-based advisory firm founded by Africans to help African governments access the financing their projects deserve.

Our Story

Ubuntu Capital was founded on a straightforward observation: Sub-Saharan Africa does not lack development projects, nor does the world lack capital willing to finance African development. What is missing — consistently — is the bridge between the two.

African governments often have ambitious, well-intentioned development plans but limited internal capacity to prepare projects to the standard that international financiers require. Meanwhile, DFIs, bilateral lenders, and commercial investors have capital allocated for African projects but cannot deploy it because the project pipeline is not bankable.

Ubuntu Capital exists to close that gap.

We work directly with governments and public agencies to prepare projects, structure financing, and secure capital from the right sources — concessional, bilateral, grant, and commercial.

We are headquartered in London, giving us direct proximity to European development finance institutions, UK private capital markets, and the British International Investment ecosystem. Our founders are Ugandan-British, with direct business operations and networks across East Africa and the broader Sub-Saharan region.

Our name reflects our values. Ubuntu — "I am because we are" — is the principle that prosperity is shared or it is not prosperity at all. We believe that well-structured financing for well-prepared projects is the most practical way to advance that principle.

What Guides Our Work

Bankability First

We do not advocate for projects that cannot attract financing on their merits. Our role is to make good projects bankable — not to dress up bad ones.

Government-Side Advisory

We sit on the government's side of the table. Our obligation is to our public-sector clients, and our advice is structured to serve their interests and the interests of the communities they serve.

Long-Term Relationships

We aim to be a government's trusted financing advisor across multiple projects and multiple years — not a one-off transaction broker.
